Midwifery Care

Kaiayo is a proud Afro Indigenous Queer Parent who did not benefit from having adequate support prenatally, during birth and postpartum when they had their children. Inspired by their own experience, Kaiayo humbly offers inclusive and compassionate midwifery care to all families. Kaiayo defines families as young parents, solo parents, partnered parents, adoptive or foster parents, polyamorous parents, etc. They specialize in serving families that are BIPOC, QTBIPOC or LGBTQIA2S+. Kindred Soul Midwifery will begin taking clients in 2026.

Why Midwifery Care?

Personalized and Holistic Care: Midwifery care focuses on providing individualized care that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the client throughout the pregnancy,  birth process and postpartum journey. We emphasize a holistic approach that respects the body's natural ability to give birth.
Lower Intervention Rates: Studies have shown that midwives tend to have lower rates of medical interventions, such as cesarean sections and epidurals, compared to obstetricians. This is because midwives promote a physiological birth process and are more likely to support non-invasive options.
Enhanced Birth Outcomes: Research suggests that people who use midwives may have better birth outcomes, such as lower rates of preterm birth and low birth weight. This may be due to the individualized care and focus on physiological birth that midwives provide.
Empowerment and Advocacy: Midwives empower people to make informed decisions about their pregnancy and birth. They advocate for the patient's preferences and provide support and guidance throughout the process.
Cultural Sensitivity:
Midwives may be more culturally sensitive than obstetricians, especially when working with clients from diverse backgrounds. They can provide care that respects the client's cultural beliefs and traditions.
